The course will be held virtually and will take place from 08h30-12h30 each day.

The Purpose of the Training is:

Understanding the context of development planning in South Africa, and the requirements and process for waste management planning.

To appreciate the importance of reliable and accurate waste data, and the obligations for waste generators and managers for waste information reporting.

Understanding the principles of the waste hierarchy, the R-ladder, life cycle assessment, and circular economy.

To identify opportunities throughout the value chain to improve resource efficiency, recover value, reduce environmental impacts and contribute to social and economic development, including the creation of green jobs.

To understand the handling of waste throughout the lifecycle including storage, collection and transport, treatment and disposal.

The modules have been revised by professionals with extensive knowledge in waste management practices.
